Colleen Landers was born in Moncton, New Brunswick and has resided in Timmins, Ontario since the age of one. She acknowledges the role that Catholic education has played in her own life, and proudly shares that she is a graduate of O鈥橤orman High School. Colleen is married to her husband, Michael and she is deeply proud of her three children and five grandchildren.

Colleen has served as a Trustee in English Catholic education for over three decades. In her years of service, she has been actively engaged in multiple Board committees, the amalgamation of school boards, and has held the role of Chair and Vice-Chair. She has always been interested to learn as much as possible about the role of trustee and she has earned different certificates over the years from OESC and the Ontario Catholic School Trustees鈥� Association (OCSTA). As well, Colleen is an elected member Director of OCSTA, representing Region 1. She also served as a Director on Canadian Catholic School Trustee Association representing Ontario, and has been called upon to be a guest speaker at provincial and national conferences.

Colleen鈥檚 life is an example of extraordinary service and achievement. She worked as a Registered Nurse and Medical Device Reprocessing Technician for 34 years. In her retirement she has successfully owned and operated a consulting business in the field of health care. Colleen is a very active volunteer in her community. She is known for her volunteer efforts with Sports for Kids Timmins, St. Martin dePorres, and local senior homes. She is involved in the life of her parish, serving as President of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Women鈥檚 League, Timmins Diocesan Catholic Women鈥檚 League Communication Chair, a Eucharistic minister, choral and lecturer, and she assists with sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion. In 2022, Colleen won the National John Jenkins Canadian Standard award for her volunteer work on Healthcare Standards.

Colleen believes that to be a Catholic School trustee is to respond to a 鈥淐all to Service鈥� and to share in the joy of providing an education that addresses the spiritual, moral, academic and physical needs of our young people. As a Catholic School trustee, her vision of Catholic education is that it be Christ-centered, committed to educating students in the Roman Catholic tradition; willing to work with all partners within and beyond the Catholic education community; and willing to devote time to prayer and reflection, to meetings, to public functions and to addressing concerns of Catholic school voters. Serving as a Catholic school trustee has brought her joy and knowledge and she loves the role. Colleen continues to be a strong voice at the table and advocates for the best Catholic education for all learners.
